Jennifer Swearengin, MA, CCC-SLP
Jennifer graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders in 1999 and received minors in Psychology and English. She was a member of the Honors College and received the honor of Magna Cum Laude. Jennifer earned a Master of Arts degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Houston in 2001. She received the Outstanding Clinician award from the University of Houston while attending graduate school.
Jennifer's experience includes working in private practice, public schools, early childhood intervention, hospitals and two aphasia research projects: "Intensive Speech-Focused Treatment for Chronic Aphasia" and "Treatment for Aphasia and Related Disorders: Subproject 3: Contrasting Treatment for Sentence Production Deficits."
Jennifer has performed diagnosis and treatment of expressive language, receptive language, articulation, voice, fluency, dysphagia, oral motor functioning and pragmatic disorders in children and adults.

Jennifer was a Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Districtwide Educational Improvement Council Member from 2012-2013 and served on the University of Houston Community Advisory Board from 2010-2012.
She also served as VP for Finance for the Houston Association of Communication Disorders (HACD) from 2009-2010.
In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys co-leading her daughters' Girl Scout troops and spending time with her family.
Patricia Breaux, MS, CCC-SLP
Patti graduated from Nicholls State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders in 1999. She earned a Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders from University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2002. Patti is certified by the Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology.
Patti's experience includes working in public schools, private practice, and a rehabilitation center. She has performed diagnosis and treatment of receptive language, expressive language, articulation, phonological processing, oral-motor functioning, voice, fluency, dysphagia, and pragmatic language in toddlers, preschool and school-aged children, and adults. She has experience with individual and group therapy, augmentative communication (including pictures and device-based communication), social stories, play therapy, Language Intervention in the Classroom Setting (LINC), and the Kaufman Speech Praxis Treatment Approach. Patti has experience working with children with developmental delays, various syndromes and autism. She attends continuing education classes to remain current on speech therapy techniques and approaches.
Dana Wierzbicki, MA, CCC-SLP
Dana graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Houston in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Disorders and a minor in Psychology. In 2011, she earned a Master of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Houston and was awarded the Outstanding Graduate COMD Student award. She is a member of the Houston Association for Communication Disorders (HACD). In 2015, Dana received an Award for Continuing Education from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dana believes in thorough assessments to ensure the best speech therapy treatment plan. She aims to help individuals and families understand a diagnosis and plan of care, incorporating their goals into the treatment. Dana's experience includes evaluation and treatment of children with communication disorders in the areas of expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language, articulation, oral-motor functioning, and fluency. In 2012, Dana was trained in the Lidcombe Program for preschool children who stutter. She utilizes a variety of methods to treat fluency disorders in children, teens, and adults. Dana has worked at summer camps for children with language disorders and hearing impairment and volunteered with Special Olympics. In addition, Dana has evaluated and treated adults in a rehabilitation setting and in private practice. In her free time, Dana enjoys spending time with family and friends, travel, reading, and photography.
Adriana Przybyszewski, MS, CF-SLP
Adriana graduated from Texas A&M University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Adriana taught junior high science and elementary math/science for several years before returning to school to pursue speech-language pathology. She has appreciated her science background as it applies to the brain development and medical aspects of speech-language pathology.
In May 2016, Adriana graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. During her time at ACU, she conducted a review of literature and wrote a research paper on the topic Factors Influencing Language Development in Bilingual Children with Cochlear Implants. Adriana attended the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing conference in March 2016 for additional training in assessment and treatment of children and adults. During that conference, she also attended a focused class on assessing and providing treatment for patients with dementia.
Adriana enjoys working with both children and adults. Her clinical experience includes working as a graduate clinician in the school setting, community clinic for children with hearing loss, inpatient rehab hospital, adult home health, and in private practice. Her assessment experience includes assessing and diagnosing children with expressive and receptive language disorders, hearing impairments, and speech sound disorders. Her treatment experience with children includes the following: expressive and receptive language, pragmatic language skills, articulation and speech sound disorders, deficits associated with autism spectrum disorder, childhood apraxia if speech, and speech perception and speech and language development following cochlear implantation. Adriana has evaluated and treated adult clients who were impacted by strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and various forms of dementia. Her treatment experience with adults includes cognitive and linguistic aspects of communication, articulation, voice disorders, and swallowing disorders. She also attended LSVT LOUD certification and training course and is an LSVT LOUD certified clinician. LSVT LOUD is an assessment and treatment protocol for individuals with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease or other neurological disorders resulting in reduced vocal loudness.
In her spare time, Adriana enjoys outdoor activities, walking her dog, and spending time with her friends and family.
Caitie Clemente, MS, CCC-SLP
Caitie graduated Cum Laude from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. In 2015, she earned a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Stephen F. Austin and conducted research on The Impact of Dual Coding on Listening Comprehension and Story Retelling. Caitie mentored college-aged girls through a local organization during her time in undergraduate and graduate studies. She is a member of the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) and the American Cleft-Palate Craniofacial Association (ACPA).
Caitie’s clinical experience consists of working with both pediatric and adult clients in out-patient rehab, hospital, private practice, public school, and skilled nursing facility settings. Her work has included evaluation and treatment of children in areas of expressive, receptive, and pragmatic disorders; articulation and phonological disorders; central auditory processing disorder; fluency; autism spectrum disorder; hearing impairments including cochlear implants; oral-motor functioning, feeding, and apraxia of speech. Caitie has a special interest in cleft palate articulation treatment. Caitie has evaluated and treated adults affected by stroke, traumatic brain injury, fluency disorders, and Bell’s palsy.
Caitie joined The Speech Emporium as a speech language pathology assistant in 2013. She attained her Master’s Degree and rejoined our team in 2015 for her clinical fellowship year. In her free time, Caitie enjoys a cup of coffee and spending time outdoors.
Rekeitta White, MA, CCC-SLP
In 2012, Rekeitta graduated Cum Laude from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She then went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Houston in 2015.
While in graduate school, Rekeitta gained experience working in the public school and hospital settings. She has evaluated and treated children and adults for a variety of disorders ranging from expressive language, receptive language, pragmatic language, articulation, voice, fluency, and dysphagia.
In her spare time, Rekeitta enjoys traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family.
Valerie Briscoe, MA, CCC-SLP
Valerie comes to The Speech Emporium after a 35+ year career in public/private school settings and running her own private practice in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. She worked in Arlington and Richardson ISD as well as The Shelton School, a private school that centers on dyslexic and learning different children. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Disorders from Texas Tech University and her Masters of Arts in Speech Pathology from University of North Texas.
Valerie has worked with children of all ages from preschool age through college age, diagnosing and treating of receptive/expressive language, articulation, fluency, and voice disorders. She has worked with a variety of students diagnosed with autism, behavior difficulties, dyslexia and curriculum based language disorders that interfere with academic success.
An empty nester, Valerie moved from Dallas in 2014 to share her life in Houston with her husband who has been working in Houston and commuting for eight years. She enjoys cooking, handwork, decorating, light gardening, and keeping up with her friends and family.
Donna Dolinky, MA, CCC-SLP
Donna joins the Speech Emporium staff after more than 20 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist providing evaluation and intervention of preschool and school aged children, as well as supervision of Licensed Assistants in Speech Pathology in a variety of settings, including Early Intervention, public schools, private practice, and pediatric outpatient clinics.
Donna graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Houston in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders. She earned a Master of Arts in Communication Disorders with an Early Childhood Specialization Certificate from the University of Houston in 1996. While in her Master’s program she received the Outstanding Graduate Clinician award from the University of Houston, and won the AMBUCS National Therapist Scholarship Award. ;
Donna’s experience includes assessment and intervention of children with a wide variety of complex speech and language disorders including, developmental apraxia, phonological disorders, oral motor and feeding, Cochlear Implant Aural rehabilitation, receptive and expressive language impairment, and deficits related to Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is a certified parent trainer in the Hanan language facilitation technique, is certified in the PROMPT neuromuscular tactile cueing system, and is trained in PECS Picture Exchange Communication System, the Kaufman Speech Praxis Approach, and Beckman Oral Motor Intervention techniques. Donna believes in a child centered treatment approach with family input and involvement as an essential part of achieving treatment goals. In her free time Donna enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with her wonderful family and friends.
Daniela Baca, Bilingual SLP-A
Daniela graduated Cum Laude from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2009 with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies. Daniela continued her education in Communication Disorders through the University of Eastern New Mexico and received her State Board License in Speech-Language Pathology in 2013.
While completing her undergraduate degree, Daniela worked as an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapist with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She also completed an internship in El Paso Independent School District at both Elementary and High School levels in PPCD and severe and profound units.
Daniela has provided treatment to patients with expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, apraxia, fluency, and articulation in both English and Spanish.
In her free time, Daniela enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing with her Bull Terrier, Dora.
Margaret Halvorson, BA, SLP-A
Margaret graduated from the University of North Texas in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology with a Minor in Psychology. While attending the University of North Texas, she tutored students with disabilities and served in the United States Naval Reserves.
She has gained experience in a variety of settings including adult skilled nursing facilities/SNF, pediatric private practices, outpatient clinics, and public schools. She has worked with children with language/articulation disorders, developmental delays, hearing impairment, dysfluency, and social/pragmatic disorders along with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Margaret also had the opportunity to work with geriatric adults treating both dysphagia and cognition.
During her free time, Margaret enjoys antiquing, movies, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Erika Cornejo, OTR
Erika graduated from Texas Woman's University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. She earned a Minor in Spanish, including foreign coursework completed at a national university in Lima, Peru. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was also a member of Pi Theta Epsilon Occupational Therapy Honor Society.
Erika is licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of Texas through ECPTOTE. In addition, she holds certification through NBCOT, with practice emphasis in Pediatrics. Erika has experience working in the public school setting, outpatient rehabilitation facilities, an adult inpatient rehabilitation unit, and early intervention programs. She has served as a lead therapist in school and outpatient rehabilitation settings. Erika is also a Level I and Level II fieldwork educator for occupational therapist students and occupational therapy assistant students completing clinical fieldwork in pediatric settings. She is fluent in Spanish and able to conduct caregiver interviews, evaluations, and treatment sessions in Spanish, when needed.
Erika has experience working with children and adolescents with a variety of disabilities/conditions, including: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder (with and without Hyperactivity), learning disabilities, developmental delays, sensory processing disorders, genetic syndromes, traumatic brain injuries, Aspergar's Syndrome, seizure disorders, coordination difficulties, and feeding aversions. Erika has completed trainings for handwriting intervention (including Handwriting Without Tears), Brain Gym, Therapeutic Listening, assistive technology, sensory processing/sensory integration techniques, and behavioral interventions, among others. She believes in assessing the impact of the child's disability on everyday occupations, such as learning, play, daily living/self-care skills, and relationships. Erika encourages active caregiver involvement in developing goals and setting priorities for intervention and strives to equip caregivers with strategies for use at home, school, and in the community to promote the highest levels of function with daily tasks.

Karen Glosson, OTR
Karen graduated in 1987 from Texas Woman’s University, Houston Campus in the Texas Medical Center with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and a psychology/sociology undergraduate degree. She has worked for such notable facilities as Herman Hospital, Shriner’s Orthopedic Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, Spring ISD, Early Intervention Keep Pace, home health, hospital inpatient and outpatient programs, and private practice facilities. Job responsibilities included clinical coordinator, COTA supervisor, student supervisor, lead therapist, and department director. Karen has experience in neonatal intervention with level II and level III infants, burn rehabilitation, hand rehabilitation, splinting fabrication, brachial plexus intervention, as well as identification and treatment of developmental disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and genetic disorders. She has a special interest in sensory awareness and sensory processing disorders.
In her free time, Karen enjoys reading, scrapbooking, and travel. She has been married to her husband for over 20 years. They have a daughter attending Stephen F. Austin State University and a son who is a senior attending Cy-Fair High School.
Wendy Stroda, MOT, OTR/L
Wendy graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, in 2002 with a B.A. in Psychology. From there, she went on to pursue a Master of Arts in Recreation Therapy from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. As a certified therapeutic recreation specialist (CTRS), Wendy has worked through the CLASS program for the past 8 years providing home health services. Wendy has also run an adaptive gymnastics program, called SOAR, through K2 Academy of Kids Sports in Cypress, Texas for the past 10 years.
In 2014, Wendy completed her Masters in Occupational Therapy at Texas Woman’s University, Houston Campus. She is certified through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and licensed through the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners. Wendy has completed the Handwriting Without Tears course, and attends continuing education courses to remain current on occupational therapy techniques and approaches.
Wendy has worked with children and young adults with developmental delays, sensory processing disorder, motor delays, Autism Spectrum Disorders, cerebral palsy, Down’s Syndrome, Spina Bifida, cancer, and Angelman’s Syndrome. Wendy has experience working in individual and group therapy settings; incorporating play therapy, social stories, physical activity, and community outings during her sessions. Wendy really believes in working with the families and making sure her treatment techniques are client centered.
In her free time, Wendy is the mother of 2 young children and enjoys running. She has completed one marathon and two half marathons through Team in Training.
Tiffany Kirk - Office Manager
Tiffany is the Office Manager for The Speech Emporium. She is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising and Business in 1998. Tiffany's career background includes work in medical sales, retail management, and most recently non-profit. Tiffany joined The Speech Emporium team in September 2011.
Susan Lee - Billing Manager
Susan was born in Oklahoma but moved to Texas as soon as she could. She moved to the Cypress area 3 years ago when she married her husband, Daniel. She had previously worked in College Station, Texas where she was the Practice Manager for a 6 physician group for 16 years. She has 3 teenage children and loves to travel in her down time.
Cherish Whitfield - Administrative Assistant
Cherish is a Veteran of The United States Air Force where she served as an Information Manager Specialist. She is married to her high school sweetheart and has two wonderful daughters. When not with her family, Cherish enjoys reading and being outdoors.
Shirley Youngblood - Administrative Assistant (Enclave location)
Shirley was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Over the years, she has moved around Texas a bit, settling in Houston. Along with her extensive customer service experience, part of which was with Blue Cross Blue Shield provider services, she also brings medical records experience (Children's Med Center-Dallas, Memorial Southwest-Houston). In her free time, Shirley enjoys gardening, cooking, and reading.
